NEWS UPDATE!
Oct 02 & 03 Just a quick word to keep you up to date.
Well we have completed our first 3 day MADD project at the Mcmillan environmental educational centre at Wrotham Kent.
I am pleased to report that we have made improvements to the educational nature trail, cleared two ponds, and more importantly built the new sound garden.
The weather was against us for the 3 day's but the volunteers came through with flying colours, and have worked in fog, rain, thunder, strong wind and bitter cold to make a real difference for the 4,500 young people that use the Mcmillan centre during the year.
The sound garden offers the young people the chance to both sit in a garden and work quietly and in peace, or to enjoy the instruments we have built.
There are drums and bells, spin round shakers and wind chimes and last but by know means least a xylophone, all made from recycled items.
This project was a partnership between CSV Action Queen Mary's (AQMs) Millennium Volunteers (MV) and Greenwich Police Cadets (MVs with AQM,s).
AQM's will be finishing the MADD week of activities this Friday with a project at the Whitehall centre in Slade green (a resource for people with Physical & Sensory Impairments)

2003 has not been to bad, more great work by the MVs at the Connexions 1 stop shop garden,Womens Aid garden, back to Mcmillan for some of the best sunshine we have ever had and lots of good work at Queen Mary's.
so much done in so little time. (and lot's more)

Chris Tarrant

Mike & Chris' Week @ the Bungalow
Hi everyone, Me (Chris Tarrant) and Mike Constable have been volunteering at the office all week long and we thought we would just add a bit in of what we've been doing and what we have discovered! First of all I am very disappointed that out of the whole week only a couple of volunteers came to say hi! We've been here all week long preparing bits and pieces for Mill Vol in general and for the health awareness in primary schools project we are launching shortly! Everything from posters to questionnaires. We even went to the Ellenor Foundation in Dartford because it had been petrol bombed and we had to lift tables into a church while they were praying and I tripped over a massive plinth thing!! Then on Thursday Mike came up with a really good idea of starting up a website! We looked around to see what other MV sites were like and decided that we could do better so go and see for yourself! Also I have noticed that there are so many different things we could do but just not enough response to do them! So if there is anything you were thinking of doing but wasn't sure, do it! Fortunately me and Mike will be around a lot more because we really had an excellent week doing all sorts of different things, we even learned Health and Safety training! So we are going to really get our hours quickly but once we've done that were gonna stay anyway! For all you volunteers that don't know us we are from Cleeve Park School and I (Chris) went to the most recent health conference, which was excellent by the way! We just wanted to say also in the newsletter a big thanks to (I've got a nice voice) Simon, (I love Ribena) Tanya and (Evil) Lynn for letting us volunteer all week long it was brill! Thanx for reading this, hope to see you all very soon,
Bye!!!
